Shelbyville, Simpsonville and Shelby County Commission on Human Rights
The Shelbyville, Simpsonville and Shelby County Commission on Human Rights (Commission) was created by the City of Shelbyville, City of Simpsonville and Shelby County, Kentucky, governments to eradicate discrimination, to protect all citizens against discrimination and to foster a climate where all people may thrive through communication, education and mediation.
The Shelbyville, Simpsonville and Shelby County Commission on Human Rights has 11 Commissioners. Four Commissioners are appointed by the Mayor of Shelbyville, two are appointed by the Mayor of Simpsonville and five are appointed by the Shelby County Judge-Executive. Commissioners are volunteers and members of the communities they serve.
The Commission meets on the first Monday of each month. (Click here to find the Commission's 2022 meeting schedule near the bottom of the Commissioners page.) The meetings begin at 6 p.m. at the Stratton Center, 215 Washington Street in Shelbyville. All meetings are open to the public.
RACIAL JUSTICE SCHOLARSHIP CONTEST
The Equal Justice Initiative, in partnership with the Shelbyville Community Remembrance Project Coalition, awarded scholarships to four public high school students in Shelby County, Kentucky, in

RACIAL JUSTICE SCHOLARSHIP CONTEST
The Equal Justice Initiative, in partnership with the Shelbyville Community Remembrance Project Coalition, has announced a scholarship contest open to 9th– through 12th-grade students attending public high school in Shelby County, Kentucky. Prizes totaling at least $10,000 will be awarded to winning participants in three categories - essay, visual arts and digital works. All entries must be submitted by Friday, April 15, 2022.
